Inventory status does not match the stock being removed

Message may mention: Invalid inventorystatus reference key {status} for issueinventorynumber {number}..

What it means

NetSuite could not use that status with the inventory detail on this line. The status might exist elsewhere, but the import still needs the correct item, location, lot, bin, and status combination.

Import context: Inventory adjustments.

Check this first

Verify how Status is mapped. If the file contains an internal ID, the mapping must use that reference type. Then inspect the exact inventory balance the line is meant to reduce.

Show the steps

Check the actual inventory balance

  1. Establish whether the line adds or removes stock and which unit it uses.
  2. Run an Inventory Balance search for the relevant item and location. Include inventory number, bin, status, on-hand quantity, and available quantity.
  3. Compare the exact combination needed by the line. An item total can include stock in other bins, lots, or statuses.
  4. Check other rows in the import that draw from that same combination.

Inventory balance search

If bin-managed stock has not been assigned to a bin, investigate put-away. Use the confirmed physical bin. Do not fill every blank bin with the same value. Bin use depends on the item's and location's configuration. Item views can display fewer decimals than transaction details; Oracle identifies Inventory Balance search as a way to obtain eight-place quantities for this comparison.

Advanced bin management

For an adjustment, the issue-number field selects existing stock, while the receipt-number field supplies the number for stock being added. Map the field appropriate to the line's purpose. Confirm grouping between adjustment lines and inventory assignments. Do not infer that a CSV column called Internal ID refers to the same record type everywhere.

Inventory adjustment fields

For precision findings, compare the full saved number with the original export. Do not apply one rounding rule to all quantity, price, or currency fields.

Does the stock have a bin assignment?

If the item uses bins and the relevant stock has no bin assignment, investigate whether put-away is outstanding. Confirm the physical bin before changing the import. A blank bin is not an error for every item.

If that looks right

This is a field example with supporting inventory documentation. A status marked available is different from a stock balance available in a particular bin. Check whether the item uses bins at that location before treating a blank bin as an error.
